HISTORICAL AND TECHNICAL NOTES
Nero di Troia is a native Apulian variety given its name because of the very intense deep ruby red colour that appears almost black; it is one of the earliest wines of the region and is thus named after Priam the Greek warrior king of ancient Troy. Priam “the Redeemed” as the story tells it.
Nero di Troia is also a story of redemption; born anew thanks to the recent international interest in working with indigenous and local grape varieties.
The grapes for Priamo are picked late in the season into small cases and then macerated in horizontal rotating vats. The maturation takes place in French oak barriques for 6 months.
