The name Angelini comes from the name of the well-known cooperative founded in San Pietro Vernotico in 1961 in the heart of the Squinzano region which was merged with Cantine Due Palme in 2008.
As well as being a famous DOP the name Squinzano is that of a village situated between Brindisi and Lecce founded in 190 BC by the Roman consul Tito Quinzio Flaminio lying close to the town of Valesio an ancient city of Messapic-Romano origin destroyed in the 12th Century. A story equally old and founded in tradition is that of the Squinzano wine made from Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes harvested late in September from wines grown on the mineral-rich soils of the region. The wines are aged in French oak barriques for 6 months followed by a maturation in bottle.
