The Story of
Cantine Due Palme

...from that April of 1989

Cantine Due Palme tells the story of the determined resurgence of an entire territory.
In 1989, in Puglia, it was still too early to speak about international success.
Puglian grapes produced fragrant and structured musts, highly appreciated by producers in Northern Italy and across Europe.
Many farmers viewed viticulture simply as the mass sale of their grapes and wines, often at undervalued prices.
Amid the quiet coming and going of what is now considered one of the most respected wine productions in the world, someone found the courage to speak up.
A visionary man and, without doubt, a courageous one, who decided to invest in what at the time seemed like a risky and almost unreasonable business.
Angelo Maci, a municipal police officer, became the owner of a small winery inherited from his grandfather Ettamiano, his long-time mentor.
From the very beginning, his dream was to create a cooperative capable of connecting and enhancing the farming knowledge of the local territory.
At the time, however, cooperativism was often associated with mediocrity rather than excellence in wine production.
Angelo Maci overturned that perception.
Great revolutions always begin with someone capable of inspiring others and convincing them to support a bold vision.
Alongside Angelo Maci, eight men and women began to believe in the project.
Today, one thousand wine-growing members proudly cultivate their land and are no longer willing to undervalue the fruits of their hard work.
Today we proudly affirm that we have become an Italian model of strength and reliability within the cooperative wine production system.

...about our business

Cantine Due Palme is one of the largest and most virtuous wine-producing realities in Southern Italy. Over the years, it has developed the ability to serve every segment of the market while guaranteeing the highest level of quality at every level.
Today, the ongoing generational transition and an entirely female leadership symbolize a business model where investment in research plays a central role—especially research focused on environmental sustainability.
The long-standing partnerships with universities and the Italian National Research Council (CNR) represent a key factor in this process, alongside continuous training across all sectors, from vineyard work to commercial departments.
The goal is to encourage a dynamic interpretation of market trends, guiding the company’s production styles.
At the same time as our responsibility toward the planet grows stronger, so too does our commitment to the community, embracing principles of social and economic sustainability.
With the 2022 harvest, a new and passionate project joined the company’s production: the concept of the “itinerant cru.”
What does it mean?
It is a meticulous mapping of the company’s vineyards, allowing the selection of the best grapes from the best parcels according to the characteristics of each individual vintage.
From this careful research and the micro-vinification of individual parcels, the new Cuntamé line was born—designed to interpret each harvest through a premium range of limited-production wines dedicated exclusively to the restaurant sector.
Human expertise, cutting-edge technology, and the ambition of the team make this ambitious project possible.

...about our concept of hospitality

Talking about our land has always moved us deeply; sharing it with the world even more so.
We feel the responsibility of bringing the very essence of our territory into every glass of wine.
For this reason, we have believed in and invested in the hospitality sector, offering an increasingly rich and varied proposal capable of immersing our guests in a synesthetic and rewarding wine experience, in true Due Palme style.
Two hospitality facilities allow us to welcome wine lovers to the heart of Salento in a setting of elegance and authenticity:
Kelina Charme Hotel and Villa Neviera Wine Resort.
Located close to the winery, they are respectively a four-star hotel and a nineteenth-century manor surrounded by the greenery of the ancient Oritana forest.
We are artisans who design unforgettable experiences.
Every hospitality project by Due Palme is a workshop of dreams where wine finds its home and where our enthusiasm and passion for our work are expressed at their fullest.
